Curriculum Vitae
My Bio
Robert Dickerson is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Computer Science Department at the University of Virginia studying computer science with thesis adviser Prof. John A. Stankovic. My current work is investigating the efficacy of a continuous depression monitoring system for homes. I work in the UVA Center for Wireless Health with Profs. John Stankovic, John Lach, and Steve Patek. I also collaborate in the Sensor Network group with Prof. Kamin Whitehouse. I completed my Masters of Computer Science in August 2008 with work on stream aggregation and web services for sensor network data. My undergraduate degree was in Computer Engineering at the University of Florida with many courses in the Digital Arts and Sciences. I had the opportunity of doing undergraduate research for three years with Prof. Benjamin Lok with the Virtual Patients for Medical Communication Skills project.
My targeted graduation date is August 2012, and am seeking jobs as an Assistant Professor or a Software Engineer for Fall of 2012.
When I'm not doing research and building systems, I like to swing dance. I co-founded a non-profit organization called SwingCville which teaches and hosts weekly dances, and larger monthly dances. I have also co-organized several events such as the Lindustrial Revolution. I enjoy teaching the Lindy Hop and Balboa, and have taught social dancing principles for over 9 years.
